Our Process

Six deliberate steps take your classic car from combustion to electric, with care and transparency at every stage.

How It Works

A Conversion Built Around You

Every EV conversion we perform follows the same disciplined framework, but no two builds are alike. Your car has its own history, its own character, and its own needs. Our process is designed to honor all of it. Have questions about what is involved? Our FAQ covers the most common ones.

1

Consultation

It begins with a conversation. You tell us about your car, what you love about it, and what you want from the conversion. We listen, ask questions, and start mapping out what is possible. Whether you have a detailed vision or just a spark of curiosity, this is where we turn ideas into a plan. Start your build online, or call us directly to schedule a consultation at our workshop. We are happy to discuss any make and model, from a classic Mustang to a Land Rover Defender.

2

Vehicle Evaluation

Once we have agreed on the direction, we bring your car into the shop for a thorough evaluation. We inspect the chassis, body, suspension, brakes, wiring, and interior. This tells us exactly what condition the car is in and what work is needed beyond the drivetrain swap. The evaluation is also where we assess weight distribution, available space for battery placement, and any structural modifications that may be required. This step ensures there are no surprises later. See our pricing guide for how vehicle condition affects overall cost.

3

Design & Engineering

This is where the technical blueprint comes together. Our engineers select the right motor, battery configuration, and control systems for your specific vehicle. We model the weight distribution, map the battery packaging, and design any custom mounting brackets or adapters needed to mate the electric drivetrain to your car's original transmission housing or direct-drive setup. Every component we select is detailed on our technology page. The engineering phase also includes planning for ancillary systems like power steering, climate control, and brake vacuum assist, ensuring every system works together seamlessly.

4

Conversion

With the plan finalized, the build begins. We carefully remove the combustion drivetrain and begin installing the electric motor, battery pack, inverter, and charging system. Custom fabrication work, wiring harnesses, and cooling systems are all built in-house. Throughout the build, we document progress with photos and regular updates so you always know where your car stands. This is where our full range of services comes into play, from mechanical work to interior refinishing. Browse our completed builds to see what a finished conversion looks like at this stage.

5

Testing & Calibration

Before your car leaves our workshop, it undergoes extensive testing. We calibrate the motor controller for smooth throttle response, test the battery management system under load, verify the charging system, and run the car through a full series of road tests. We check braking performance, suspension behavior with the new weight profile, and thermal management across a range of driving conditions. Nothing is handed over until it meets our standards, which, candidly, are higher than most owners would demand. It is how we ensure every build is safe, refined, and genuinely enjoyable to drive.

6

Delivery & Support

The final step is the best one: getting your keys back. We walk you through every detail of your converted car, from charging habits to driving characteristics. But our relationship does not end at delivery. We provide ongoing support for every build we complete, including software updates, battery health monitoring, and maintenance guidance. If you ever have questions after taking delivery, our team is a phone call away. Check our FAQ for answers to common post-delivery questions, or contact us anytime.

Timeline

What to Expect

A typical conversion takes between 8 and 16 weeks, depending on the complexity of the build and the condition of the vehicle. Our Essentials tier builds tend to be on the shorter end, while a full Concours-level restoration and conversion naturally requires more time.

Throughout the process, you will have direct access to your project lead. We believe in clear communication and no guesswork. If something changes, you will know about it before we proceed. Learn more about our team and the values that guide every build we take on.
